My Prized Asset

How do you value yourself? In this celebrity era, comparisons are often made to movie and football stars, or what position you have in a company, what your earning capacity is, and what your family think of you. Your ‘value’ is then rated accordingly.

Recently at church we were instructed to listen to God and ask Him to give us just three words that He wanted us to hear. God gave me the following three words: ‘My Prized Asset’. What is a ‘prized asset’? It is that piece of art that the owner puts on the wall and makes it the focal point of the room. It takes centre stage. The definition of prized asset is: a valuable and important person.

John 3.16 says ‘For God so loved the world, He gave his one and only Son, So that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life.’

Ephesians 2.10 goes on to say ‘For we are God’s masterpiece. He created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.’

Satan will try and tell you, that you are anything but a prized asset and that God does not love you because you have done this, that or the other. He will try and convince you that you are not special and have no value.

In John 10.10 Jesus says ‘The thief comes only in order to steal, and kill and destroy. I came that they may have and enjoy life, and have it in abundance (to the full till it overflows).’

Satan is nothing but a deceiver! He does not want you to know the truth about who you actually are in God’s eyes; nor does he want you to use (and enjoy) the skills and abilities that God has given you.

God does not just want to hang you on His wall, he has plans for you. Good Plans!

Jeremiah 29.11 says ‘For I know the plans I have for you’ says the Lord “they are a plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and hope.’

We have just looked at three bible verses in which God tells us that he has good plans for us; these are just a few of many verses! God’s will is that you and I should enjoy an abundant, overflowing life. That is the kind of life I want to have!

Since I decided to ask God to lead and direct me, I have been amazed with the good plans God has revealed to me.

I challenge you today to let God show you how valuable you are in His sight. Begin to see yourself as He sees you, as ‘a prized asset’, and let him show you the great plans that he has for you.
