God wants you to live a victorious life. His plan is for you to be able to overcome every obstacle or difficulty that comes your way in any area of your life – spirit, soul, body, finances or relationships. Sometimes attacks from Satan come in one or two or every area of your life and it can be difficult to stand! Here are some tools that will help you to stand:
Daily bible reading and prayer time – just as you need to eat every day to nourish your body, you need to nourish your spirit. When you are strong in spirit, you can withstand the attacks of the devil – see Ephesians 6:10-18. The Word review is for you! Also, an invaluable aid to nourishing your spirit is reading a devotional each day – a recommendation is Faith to Faith and Pursuit of His Presence which you can download to your phone or computer from the KCM website, www.kcm.org.uk
Life Group – coming together with other people of faith is very important. One of Satan’s tactics is to isolate you when you are under attack so that you become weaker (like Dolphins attacking a shoal of fish). When Satan attacks, get in close with your family of faith. Life Group every week is a ‘lifeline’ to support you so you can keep strong, build your faith, and pray with your faith-buddies.
Attending church every week – did you know that this is considered as very important by God? Check out Hebrews 10:25. He wants us to meet together so that we can be blessed and be a blessing. As Gloria would say, ‘In consistency lies the key to breakthrough.’
Speak the WORD out loud – We are speaking spirits (we are a spirit, we have a soul and we inhabit a body). This means that, when we speak into the atmosphere we inhabit, we pave the way for our future. Joyce Meyer says that what we are living today is what we said yesterday (meaning the past), and what we say today is what we live tomorrow (meaning the future). If you want to stand against the attacks of Satan and overcome, get some scriptures from the Bible on the areas you need victory in and start speaking them out loud! Check these out: 2 Corinthians 2:14, 3 John 2, Philippians 4:19, Psalm 91, Psalm 112.
Praise! – Thanking God and praising Him is something we can choose to do, even if we don’t feel like doing it. When we come under attack, making the decision to sing praises to God is powerful. Creflo Dollar says that singing praises to God is, “an invitation He cannot turn down”. As soon as we praise, God steps in! Creflo also says, “We have to train ourselves to look at the circumstances an give God thanks for His deliverance”. 2 Chronicles 20 has an excellent account of victory in praise!
Fasting – This is usually done in the area of eating. It is a powerful tool to fast in the midst of difficult circumstances. We can slip into being led by our flesh rather than being led by the Holy Spirit in our inner man. In fasting, we use the time we would take to prepare and eat meals to spend time in fellowship with God to feed and nourish our spirit. Fasting is a clear signal to our flesh that we are not going to be moved by the things we see, hear and feel that are contrary to the Word of God, but that we are moved only by what the Word of God.
